Living in Leeds

Leeds is an exceptional place to live, work and study – the third largest city in the UK and recently announced as the best city to live in the UK in the Sustainable Cities report, based on quality of life and people. A recent survey by The Times further underlines this, naming the city as the UK’s best cultural place to live and it has also just been named as one of the top European destinations to visit in the Lonely Planet guide.

Surrounded by the stunning Yorkshire countryside, the city makes an ideal place to experience the best of both worlds (much in the same way GSAL does!)

From the bustling city centre with its range of designer, high street and quirky independent shops to the peace and tranquillity of the Yorkshire Dales or North Yorkshire Moors, Leeds enables you to experience both, even in one day.

Leeds is also renowned for its culture and nightlife. The city boasts a number of cultural attractions, theatres and performance venues, including art galleries, museums, and the First Direct arena which plays host to international stars and events. For those looking to satisfy their appetite in the more conventional way, Leeds offers a huge range of eateries and bars that reflect the multi-cultural population of the city – there really is something for everyone.

Sports fans will also find all their needs catered for in Leeds and the surrounding area. The city is home to the Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Super League Champions, Leeds Rhinos. It has a championship football club, a number of racecourses within easy reach, and was also the starting point for the Tour de France in 2014, which provided a legacy of cycling routes and clubs in the region.

Transport links are excellent, with Leeds being a central hub for the motorway network. The East Coast mainline provides regular services to London in under 2.5 hours and for those travelling further afield, Leeds Bradford International Airport is only 8 miles out of the city.
