What are you doing now?
Relationship Manager at Sports Coach UK
What is your biggest achievement to date?
Team Manager of Senior England Netball A Squad vs New Zealand and Jamaica playing at Wembley Arena.
How did you get to where you are today?
By gaining experience from my time at Leeds Girls’ High School coaching the junior school netball teams and other experience in a variety of different sport settings, I worked for England Netball in county and national roles, before gaining my current role at sports coach UK. Along the way I have also held team manager roles with the England Netball national and U17 squads as well as the Yorkshire Jets Superleague netball team where I was also a board member.
What are your fondest memories of school?
The friends I made, the sports teams I played in and the school trips skiing and to Malawi.
Which teacher made the greatest impression on you and why?
Mrs Johnson. As my PE Teacher, Mrs Johnson gave me opportunities to coach the netball teams in Ford House Junior School and gain the experience and qualifications I needed to pursue a career in sport. It was great to have that support and guidance in school and I am still in close contact with Cathryn today.
How did school prepare you for life?
It taught me to have the work ethic to take into my working life and have the confidence to believe that with that strong work ethic, I can become the best I can be.
What advice would give to current pupils of The Grammar School at Leeds?
Make sure you take advantage of all the opportunities afforded to you, enjoy the time you have there and be yourself.
