OLs in Australia recently enjoyed their fifth bi-annual alumni dinner which took place at the Melbourne Club on Thursday 16 November. Organised by Geoff Ingall (OL60), the dinner was attended by alumni from across four decades; Jeremy Stowe-Lindner (OL92), Andy Grainge (OL71), Scott Inman (OL94), Neil Smithies (OL92), Martin Jones (OL61), Tim Wess (OL82), Simon Bligh (OL86) and Nigel Shearer (OL78).
The evening was a great success with Geoff summing it up perfectly, “It’s amazing how a group of men, with no other bond than a long-ago school, can so enthusiastically enjoy one another’s company.” They came from all over Australia too. Nigel Shearer made the long trip from Hobart, Simon Bligh flew in from Sydney, Scott Inman drove nine hours from Bowral in New South Wales and new face, Albury-based Tim Wess flew down via a myriad NSW bush towns and Canberra.
Geoff is hoping to organise a similar event in Sydney next year. If you now live in Australia or know of any alumni of LGS, LGHS or GSAL who are now down-under and want to get in touch with fellow alumni please email alumni@gsal.org.uk
