Principal’s message

An Inspector Calls…with apologies to Yorkshire-born playwright J.B. Priestley, given it was actually a team of 10 inspectors! One of the most important parts of a quality inspection process is that organisations are given little warning of an inspection visit. Meeting the requirements delegated to them by the Department for Education/Ofsted, ISI can come knocking with anywhere between 10 minutes’ notice and 24 hours, any time they want. And so it should be. Schools should be giving their pupils the very best all day every day, not just when planning for a week like this. As such, short notice ensures an accurate snapshot of the heart of the school.

However, after a frenetic week, today I simply want to say thank you. So many of you sent in wonderful messages of support to the staff. So many of you responded so positively to the parental survey and made the kindest of comments that humbled us. As such, our overall parent satisfaction rating was stunning.

This week, GSAL has shone – in every corridor and corner, every classroom and creative space. Pupils and staff have been as one and the atmosphere around the place has been electric. Of course I’m not allowed to share the outcome as it will be published in a few weeks so, for now, THANK YOU.

Sue Woodroofe
Principal
