Providing plenty of room to excel
There is plenty of room to excel at GSAL, with many opportunities for social, artistic, musical and sporting activities. All are delivered through state-of-the-art facilities spread across our 100 plus acre site at Alwoodley Gates in north Leeds.
The Junior School (Years 3 to 6), Senior School and Sixth Form are located at Alwoodley Gates. Rose Court Nursery and Pre-Prep is housed in newly expanded premises in Headingley.
Rose Court Nursery and Pre-Prep
Based in light, airy buildings in the leafy suburb of Headingley, Rose Court offers an attractive blend of purpose built and specially refurbished classrooms. These include specialist classrooms and studios for art, drama, music and ICT (with 25 computers) and a hall for assemblies and special performances.
There is also an extensive library with over 10,000 books. Our specialist areas are also used at the end of the school day for After School Clubs and activities such as karate, Brazilian football, ballet and Yoga Bugs. The outdoor areas include a specially designed play area for our very youngest Nursery pupils, and spacious gardens and a playing field for Pre-Prep pupils.
Junior School
Junior School facilities have been carefully designed to support the educational philosophy of the school. Our commitment to academic excellence is reflected in superb classrooms and specialist suites. We have separate areas for science, art, design technology, information technology, music, dance and drama, as well as our own library and librarian.

A warm and intimate atmosphere is created by year group ‘pods’, which arrange classrooms and play areas for each year group in physically separate units. Junior School also benefits from superb theatre, swimming and sports facilities, shared with Senior School.
Senior School
Our superb, state-of-the-art teaching facilities include a multi-media library, ICT and intranet resources, science and language laboratories, art and design studios, and food technology areas.
Outstanding facilities also support a varied and full programme of sporting, recreational, musical and artistic activities.
The Sixth Form Centre
Sixth Formers are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their learning and lifestyle, and to balance their academic work, extra-curricular activities and recreation.

In addition to GSAL’s excellent facilities, Sixth Formers also have their own large common room with café and restaurant facilities, and their own separate work space and ICT suite. These are open before and after normal school hours.
