Wednesday 23 January 2013 Congratulations to two table tennis teams from GSAL who have done their school and county proud with their performance to date in a national schools competition. GSAL’s Under 13 and Under 16 boys’ teams took the county title for their respective age groups by winning their category in the West Yorkshire Schools Table Tennis Championships in December. As West Yorkshire champions they progressed to the ‘zone’ finals in January, which extended the area of competition to include South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire. The U13s won their three matches convincingly, with scorelines of 8-0, 7-1 and 7-1, and keep their sights on the national prize as they now go through to the regional final in Grantham on 24 February. Their U16 GSAL counterparts, in a close-fought zone final, came third out of five teams.
