Mr Robert Lilley, Head of Junior School

Moving On Up
When your son or daughter joins our Junior School - whether it's at age 7 in Year 3, or in Years 4 to 6 - our first priority is to give them everything they need to make friends and feel secure, so they can continue to learn with complete confidence. Prior to joining, there are many opportunities to see what it's like in Junior School and help us get to know each other, and if your child joins us mid-year we give them a classroom ‘buddy' who looks out for them while they settle in.
"I loved it when I first came because I made friends straight away."

As part of The Grammar School at Leeds family of schools, our pupils have tremendous opportunities. They learn in bright, contemporary classrooms within spacious, landscaped grounds and enjoy first rate educational materials and bespoke facilities. Our enthusiastic teachers inspire and care for pupils in small classes, making sure each child has the individual attention they require.
Once they've found their way, pupils quickly feel at home and find their voice. Some even represent their classmates on the School Council, which meets weekly with teachers to discuss pupils' ideas and proposals. As a result, we now have more shelters in the playgrounds, and more popular sandwich fillings at lunchtime - though we draw the line at chocolate spread!
As they progress through the school, we introduce pupils to specialist subjects such as languages, science, design technology, and team sports. Learning can be a huge adventure - we aim to take your child well beyond the basics and give them a real appetite for exploration!
At age 11, Junior School pupils usually join Year 7 in Senior School without being required to sit the entrance examination.
