Andrew Geoghegan (OL92), a Yorkshire based jewellery designer and founder of British fine jewellery design house AG, has been voted ‘Designer of the Year 2013’ at the British Jewellers Association (BJA) Awards.
Former LGS student Andrew, who has been described as ‘one of the most inspired and remarkable’ contemporary jewellery designers in the UK, won the award following a public vote.
He is already acknowledged as a key innovator in the jewellery industry, having been named on the ‘Hot 100’ list of jewellery movers and shakers in 2012, and this latest ‘Designer of the Year’ award is regarded as one of the toughest and most respected accolades in the industry.
Speaking after receiving his prize at a ceremony in Birmingham, Andrew said: “It’s an incredible achievement. This has been another remarkable year for AG and I continue to design and create with the same intense passion and boundless energy with which I started.
“My aim has always been to create mesmerising designs at the very height of opulence and luxury, essentially putting my all into every piece and creating something which helps people to express their love.
“It’s my fanbase whose votes have got me this award and that is great to know because I put them at the forefront of everything I design.”
These are exciting times for Andrew and AG as the company begins exporting next year, making its international debut in Munich.
The business has also recently moved to a converted farm building in the middle of the Yorkshire countryside where, Andrew says, his inspiration will be at an all-time high as he is surrounded by glorious landscapes.
