Luxury kitchens and home interiors studio Grid Thirteen has partnered with The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) to support its art, design and technology (ADT) showcase of student coursework.

As well as pledging funds to support the important event, Grid Thirteen was involved with judging the work to identify outstanding pieces that were considered immediately viable in the commercial market.

The end of year exhibition showcases the work of over 100 students studying ADT at GCSE, AS-level and A-level.  It is a celebration of their creativity and talent and is well attended by students, parents, staff and alumni.

John Bagshaw, head of design and technology at GSAL, said: “The exhibition is a fabulous showcase for our students’ creativity and we are very grateful for the support of Grid Thirteen. Industry links are so valuable for students, helping them to see the relevance of their design assignments to the real world and demonstrating that there are genuine career opportunities for talented designers.”

Natalie Fry, design director at Grid Thirteen, selected the winners who were Riva Graham and Philip Robinson, both upper sixth, and Naomi Pickersgill, lower sixth.

Natalie said: “We wanted to get involved with design and technology at GSAL to invest in local education and the potential of the next generation coming through to the design industry. The artwork is outstanding, of exceptional quality, and it was difficult to choose the prize winners. The winners were standout pieces and I would happily give them house room.”

Grid Thirteen, which is exclusively affiliated to SieMatic, launched in December last year with a stunning new studio displaying kitchens, appliances and home accessories.  It is also established as a hub for design excellence with open access to the design industry for consultation, knowledge sharing and product training.
