With this summer’s Le Tour Yorkshire racing ever nearer, The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) and Leeds City Museum are gearing up for a fun day of cycle themed activities in February half-term.
‘We Love Le Tour de France’ is a family activity day at Leeds City Museum, to celebrate the arrival of the world’s premier cycle race in Yorkshire later this year. The Tour de France will set off from Leeds on Saturday 5 July, with the first two stages to be hosted in Yorkshire.
There will be something for all the family at ‘We Love Le Tour de France’, with face painting, Tour de France route mapping games and craft activities including medal and badge design. Visitors can sign up for workshops where they can get creative with Le Tour themed textile design and chocolate making, or investigate cycle construction by building wire bikes.
Whatever your normal mode of transport, you can test your pedal power by taking the Kidney Research UK charity’s cycling challenge on static bikes.
Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for leisure and skills, said: “The arrival of the Grand Départ in our city later this year has really captured the imagination, and we are delighted to be supporting this fantastic Tour de France themed family activity event during half-term.”
‘We Love le Tour de France’ takes place at Leeds City Museum, Millennium Square, Leeds, on Friday 21 February from 11.00am with the last admissions at 2.00pm. Entry and all workshops (to be booked on arrival) are free of charge.
