OL Paul Hare, a former British ambassador to Cuba and now lecturer in international relations at Boston University, was the guest speaker at GSAL’s Speech Day.
In an entertaining and motivating speech, Paul spoke to his audience about always standing up for what they believe in and about the changes in the world since he attended school. As well as drawing on his own experiences at LGS, he also spoke about his family’s connections to both LGS and LGHS. His mother Dorothy was a piano teacher at LGHS, his father Maurice was a senior master at LGS and he and his sister were both students.
He also described his life as a British ambassador, meeting an enormous variety of people, dealing with many different issues and the many countries he visited.
A vote of thanks was given by two members of the head boy and girl team, Charlotte Martin and James Roberts.
