A sense of belonging
Our house system epitomises the spirit of the school. Designed to bring students together to form a strong bond and a sense of belonging, the house system provides inclusive, dynamic and fun activities which help develop confidence through keen, but always friendly, competition.
Each student in Senior School is a member of one of GSAL’s eight houses. They join students from across school, with younger and older students working together as teams on challenging and entertaining activities. There are weekly assemblies where students and staff can celebrate their house’s success or commiserate if things have not gone so well.
The annual programme of house events is packed with both new and familiar activities including music, drama, sport, dance, debating, cooking and quizzes, along with new and ingenious ideas from the students which are regularly added to the calendar.
Senior School has eight houses – Eddison (plum); Ermystead (purple); Ford (gold); Harrison (red); Lawson (dark green); Lupton (light blue); Powell (light green); Sheafield (dark blue). The stripes in your school tie denote your house.
