A sense of belonging

Each student in Senior School and Sixth Form is a member of one of eight houses, in a flourishing and dynamic set up that brings pupils together from across the age groups and builds a sense of belonging.

The house system helps develop confidence through keen, but always friendly, competition in a range of events. House events provide pupils with many opportunities to mix socially and have a go as part of a team. Being mostly student led, house activities offer plenty of scope to put leadership, negotiation, persuasive and creative talents to good use.

The annual programme of house events extends far beyond sport. It also includes music, drama, dance, debating, cooking, quizzes and ingenious subject challenges, while new competitions are added to the calendar regularly.

The pupils’ personal development is excellent. They show high levels of confidence and a healthy competitive spirit, encouraged by the house system, which promotes good self-motivation. Pupils demonstrate strong moral awareness, and highly developed social skills.
