Brief synopsis of workshop :

The aim of this workshop is twofold. Firstly, Vincent intends to share his investigation into the impact of seating arrangement in the classroom through his experiment. Secondly, the findings from his investigation will be shared to generate discussions to inspire other teachers to conduct their own inquiries and share their outcomes.

This workshop requires minimal skills on industrial drawing. Instead, a willingness to imagine and try new approaches that suit individual context will almost ensure a more pleasurable experience.

A fresh pair of eyes to see your classroom full of opportunities to maximise the learning experience of learners of diverse personalities and temperaments.

Profile of facilitator:

Vincent has been an English teacher at Harrogate Grammar School since he was an NQT in January 2007. Over the years, he has taught the full range of Key Stages and abilities in his comprehensive school with a sixth form. Until last year, Vincent had taught mainly English Literature (OCR) at A-Level and IB World Literature. He teaches A -Level English Language with no less pleasure or enthusiasm at the moment (just don’t ask him to mimic accents!).

Vincent’s research interests include teacher professionalism, teacher identity and critical pedagogy. In addition to the various blog posts – loosely or closely connected to teaching and learning – he completed an MEd at Cambridge and will return to conduct his doctorate research studying the secondary school experience of students with Chinese heritage.
