Jamie Thom

Name of Workshop

Slow Teaching: a recipe for improved teaching, leadership and wellbeing

Who is it for

Teachers who are keen to make more informed choices about how time is spent.

Brief synopsis of workshop :

The session will look at ways in which we can slow down to help navigate the busy and overwhelming world of education. It will look at the benefits of becoming a more strategic and reflective practitioner. By exploring educational research, it will evaluate how best we can use our time in the classroom to help students to achieve their best.  It will also offer ways to improve wellbeing and make teaching a more sustainable profession. It will explore how slowing down will help us to make incremental improvements in our teaching.

What you will get out of it

A more streamlined understanding of how classroom time can be best spent, and practical ways to improve work life balance.

Profile of facilitator

After experiencing burn out in an early venture into leadership, I am now a full time English teacher with an interest in how we can make teaching a more sustainable profession. I run www.slowteaching.co.uk and recently published ‘Slow Teaching: on finding calm, clarity and impact in the classroom’.
