A thank you from our bursary students…

Friday 24 May 2019

Our upper sixth students have just stood down in advance of sitting their A–levels, and among them this year are more than 30 bursary students.

For all our students, these exams are the culmination of years of hard work with many holding conditional university offers dependent on their A-level grades in August.

A number of bursary students joined the school at Year 7, like Julia, while others, such as Harry, attended from sixth form. Their places are funded thanks to the generosity of our alumni, staff and parents.

Julia is holding an offer to study medicine at Cambridge, and Harry has secured an apprenticeship with Oakwood Solicitors in Leeds. Both have described the opportunity to study at GSAL as ‘life changing’.

Julia said: “I thoroughly enjoy my subjects, taught by such fantastic teachers, in an environment that I feel comfortable in. I feel very lucky to be the recipient of a full bursary as, without it, I wouldn’t be at GSAL and my whole future could look completely different.

Harry added: “GSAL’s hugely beneficial bursary programme is undoubtedly life changing. I would like to say just how grateful I am to have been provided with such a rare opportunity to get such a brilliant education. I cannot express enough my appreciation for the chance I have been given and that’s because it is not just the chance to have a good education, it’s the chance to have a good life as a result.”
