North Independent Secondary School of the Year 2020

Open events

Come and see us

You may feel you know a lot about The Grammar School at Leeds already from our website and our prospectus, but before you make up your mind please do come and visit us. Our open doors and open morning are a fantastic way to meet and chat to teachers and pupils, see our vast range of facilities and really get a feel for the school.

We run several open events each year which you are welcome to attend. Most of these are open doors when you can visit the school on a normal school day. You will be shown around by one of our pupils and have the opportunity to view teaching in action. Staff will be on hand to answer your questions over a cup of coffee after your tour.

Our annual open morning is usually held on the second Saturday in October. This is our showcase event and includes specially themed activities which your child is very welcome to take part in. We will also have various displays, including musical ensembles, sports matches and house activities. If possible, we recommend you attend both the annual open morning and one of our open doors. Our open events always run 9am – 12 noon throughout the school.

Questions you may want to ask

We will happily answer any questions you may wish to ask about our school. Our pupils often help out at open events so please do take the opportunity to ask them what they think. Please do look at the work on display and ask to see the equipment and facilities. Here are some of the questions you may wish to ask to decide whether we are right for your child:

What are the class sizes?
How is the curriculum structured?
Is the curriculum broad and well balanced?
How much homework is there in each age group?
What after school activities are available?
How does GSAL cater for the needs of individual children?
What is different about GSAL compared to other schools?
