Bold as brass – Hilary Devey to speak at GSAL

Thursday 1 November 2012

Having made her name in business with her company Pall-ex, Hilary Devey was cast into the public eye thanks to her TV appearances on The Secret Millionaire, The Business Inspector and Dragon’s Den.

Her rise to business success came at great personal and financial cost, which Hilary charts in her memoir Bold as Brass, from her turbulent childhood to the personal and professional challenges she faced in her adult life.

In association with the Ilkley Literature Festival, Hilary will be speaking about her extraordinary life with candour, warmth and humour at a talk and book signing on Friday 9 November at the Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL).

The event has come about through a new partnership between GSAL and the Festival, which this year saw GSAL become the major sponsor of the Children’s Festival and its keynote event, a performance by popular children’s author Michael Morpurgo.

Abbey Vale of Ilkley Literature Festival said: “Due to Hilary’s busy filming schedule we had to postpone her Festival appearance; however we know many people will want to hear about her fascinating life and her very popular television programmes. With many of our visitors to the Festival living or working in Leeds it seemed ideal to relocate the event to The Grammar School at Leeds, as we work very closely with the school through the Children’s Festival partnership.”

Tickets are £12 (£10 for under 25s) and can be booked online via the Ilkley Literature Festival website
