Celebration dinner marks the retirement of Lord Dyson

Monday 28 November 2016

More than 40 alumni gathered together at The Athenaeum Club in London to mark the retirement of Lord Dyson (OL61) as Master of the Rolls.

The celebratory dinner, which was organised by GSAL and hosted by Peter Crystal (OL66) in Lord Dyson’s honour, was attended by former pupils from the past seven decades of Leeds Grammar School plus members of the Leeds Girls’ High School alumnae community.

Lord Dyson is one of the school’s most eminent alumni. His distinguished legal career culminated in his appointment as Master of the Rolls in 2012, the most senior civil judge and second most senior judge in England and Wales after the Lord Chief Justice.

During the retirement dinner Lord Dyson shared with his audience the many changes to the legal profession that he had witnessed during his career and many of the lighter moments too.

A display of photographs included this one of a school trip to Westminster in 1959.
