Friday 24 May 2013 Alumni Gordon Benson and Suzy Petty were amazed to bump into each other at the opening ceremony of the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney. They were Down Under earlier this year as part of Team GB, with Suzy playing hockey and Gordon as part of the triathlete squad. The festival saw around 1,700 athletes, aged between 13 and 19, from 30 nations competing across 17 Olympic sports. Many of the events took place in venues used to host the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Both Suzy and Gordon are pursuing their sporting careers while at university. Suzy left GSAL in 2010 to study at Loughborough University and Gordon, who left last year, is a student at Leeds University. Alumni
