There was a day of nostalgia in store for 85 Old Leos who took a trip down memory lane at the Back to School event at Moorland Road.
The day of reminiscing, laughter and chat was enjoyed by alumni from a wide range of ‘vintages’ from the 1940s through to the 1990s.
The old boys enjoyed breakfast at Alwoodley Gates before taking the school bus from GSAL to Moorland Road for a packed school day of assemblies, lessons, a tour of the old school, now Leeds University Business School, and of course a traditional school lunch served by dinner monitors.
One of the highlights of the day was a re-enactment by Peter Jolly of one of his famous assemblies – a 15-minute rendition of Robert Browning’s Pied Piper of Hamelin, which was a joy to behold.
Another moment which caused great hilarity was when one of the oldest alumnus, Geoffrey Wilson (OL40), was overheard discussing his recent hip operation with one of the youngest alumnus, Dr Stephen Guy (OL95), now an orthopaedic surgeon!
The was the second Back to School Day – back by popular demand – and it looks like it may become a regular fixture in the alumni events calendar. Visit the GSAL Alumni Facebook page for more photos
