At Rose Court the honour of sharing the Christmas story with fellow pupils and their families traditionally falls to the Reception year group, and this year’s pupils rose magnificently to the challenge.
They took to the stage in the hall at Rose Court, the nursery and pre-prep of The Grammar School at Leeds, to perform the annual nativity play. The children delivered their lines beautifully and also told the story through songs, some familiar and others not so well known.
With four classes in the year group, there were two separate performances each involving two classes. The children had spent their music lessons since half term learning the songs with music teacher Mrs Chris Turner, who played the piano for the performances.
Once the songs were memorised and with less than two weeks to go until the performances, the children focused on learning their lines and the actions.
After all that hard work, with lovely characterisation and clear delivery of the words, spoken and sung, the Christmas story was brought beautifully to life for audiences of families and fellow pupils.
This week it’s the turn of Junior School, with each year group putting on their own festive show, and Senior School musicians who perform in their Winter Concert. Visit our Facebook page for more photos from our seasonal performances.
