Two hockey players from The Grammar School at Leeds Rebecca Hutson of Y9 and Katie Toogood of Y10 have been selected to attend the prestigious England Hockey Board High Performance Assessment Camp.
The camp was for the top 64 girls from all over England in the U15 age group. The players experienced a high performance environment led by England Hockey Board appointed coaches, including coaching and match play opportunities, as well as attending courses on injury management, diet and the rules governing the use of medication.
Rebecca and Katie were in the top 16 girls for the U15 age group in Northern England. This is a real achievement, especially as Rebecca is a year young at the age of 13 and is still an U14 player.
Rebecca has also now been selected to go to Lilleshall National Squad Camp for an assessment weekend for England U16 Girls’ Hockey in November. Only seven girls from U15 age group have been selected and the other 36 are all U16s from around the country.
Rebecca plays in attack and mid field positions on the hockey field, whilst Katie is a midfield defence player. Both girls play for GSAL teams in their respective age groups, and Wakefield Ladies’ third teams.
