The House System

A flourishing and strong house system

We encourage all pupils to engage with those outside their year group by active participation in a flourishing and strong house system. House events provide pupils with wide opportunities across a broad range of activities and, most importantly, they instil a desire to join in, have fun and make a contribution to the team. Weekly house assemblies celebrate members’ achievements and help create a sense of belonging.

Developing confidence and leadership skills

Our sixth form students are integral to the success of the houses, taking on leadership roles and organising events and teams. The house system presents a unique opportunity to develop confidence as students of all age groups compete alongside one another in a variety of fun events, ranging from popular sports to cooking or creative performance.

Each student in Senior School and Sixth Form is a member of one of the eight houses below. Sixth form students can apply for leadership roles in their house, with two house captains and four deputy house captains appointed to each house.

Eve, Head Girl

The house system at school involves all year groups, providing a fun, easy way to make new friends, and the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of events and try new activities.

I love the spirit in which house events occur and I’m always eager to take part. Whether it’s sports day, house music or even house engineering there is an enjoyable, light-hearted atmosphere, with just a little friendly competition!

The events are mainly student led, providing sixth form students with leadership opportunities that can help to build confidence, improve organisational skills and bring the reward of leading their house to success.

Our strengths

“The pupils’ personal development is excellent…encouraged by the house system, which promotes good self-motivation”
