Open events

We run several open events each year which you are welcome to attend. Most of these are Open Doors when you can visit the school on a normal school day. You will be shown around by one of our pupils and have the opportunity to view teaching in action. Staff will be on hand to answer your questions over a cup of coffee after your tour.

Our annual Open Morning is usually held on the second Saturday in October. This is our showcase event and includes specially themed activities which your child is very welcome to take part in. We will also have various displays, including musical ensembles, sports matches and house activities. If possible, we recommend you attend both the annual Open Morning and one of our Open Doors. Our open events always run 9am – 12 noon throughout the school.

Upcoming open events

If you are unable to make these dates, please contact our Admissions Manager, Angela Boult on 0113 228 5121 and we will try to arrange a more convenient time.

Questions you may want to ask

We will happily answer any questions you may wish to ask about our school. Our pupils often help out at open events so please do take the opportunity to ask them what they think. Please do look at the work on display and ask to see the equipment and facilities. Here are some of the questions you may wish to ask to decide whether GSAL is right for your child:

What are the class sizes?
How is the curriculum structured?
Is the curriculum broad and well balanced?
How much homework is there in each age group?
What after school activities are available?
How does GSAL cater for the needs of individual children?
What is different about GSAL compared to other schools?

Rose Court (3-7yrs)

Here at Rose Court, we have lots of fun and interesting things to show you. You can visit our classrooms, see a lesson taking place, and watch our smallest members of GSAL at play. Please do take the opportunity to talk to our class and support teachers and ask any questions you may have. We are proud of Rose Court and are looking forward to sharing it with you.

Junior School (7-11yrs)

Experience a typical school day! You’ll be shown around by one of our pupils and have the opportunity to sit in on a few lessons. Teaching staff will be on hand to answer your questions over a cup of coffee before or after your tour.

You are also invited to our showcase Open Morning which is held at the weekend for the convenience of busy parents. Although this is not a normal school day, you’ll still get a good sense of the academic and extra-curricular activities on offer from the sheer variety of displays our staff and pupils arrange for you.

Senior School (11-16yrs)

Senior School open events are a valuable way of really getting to know the school well. Our pupils will proudly show you their work and are happy to chat about an insiders view of the school.

Sixth Form (16-18yrs)

To give you a feel for school life, we hold a series of open events as well as a Sixth Form information evening, and you and your parents are also welcome to make a private appointment to meet with our Director of Sixth Form.
