Travelling to school

Our pupils come from all over Yorkshire and wherever safe and appropriate, we encourage parents, pupils and staff to walk, cycle, and/or take the bus to and from school.  This is not only healthy and environmentally responsible but also helps reduce traffic congestion in and around our school.

We are on a number of public bus routes, and in addition our own bus company, GSAL Transport Ltd, operates an extensive network of school buses. There are 11 daily bus services at the start and end of the school day, and five late buses which leave school at 17:45 to enable pupils to take part in after school activities.

For younger pupils we also have a shuttle bus that runs between Rose Court and GSAL before and after school. Pupils on the shuttle bus are welcomed and escorted by a fully qualified member of staff.

The work of our transport team has been recognised with a gold award in the Modeshift STARS (Sustainable Travel Accreditation and Recognition for Schools) awards.

If you have any questions about any aspect of travelling to and from GSAL, please contact our transport office by phone on 0113 228 5147 or email transport@gsal.org.uk
