Entry to Sixth Form

For further enquiries for admissions for this September please contact our admissions manager, Alice Atkinson on 0113 228 5121 or admissions@gsal.org.uk

Sixth Form at The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) offers a superb educational experience encompassing so much more than simply academic study, and we wish to attract students to our sixth form who will fully grasp the opportunities on offer.

Entry requirements

Applicants in Year 11 at another school will be expected to achieve at least six grade 6’s at GCSE. Admission will be subject to a satisfactory interview and reference from the current school. In making a decision on whether to admit a student, we will take into account:

  • The student’s contribution to school life, his/her reports and disciplinary record
  • The student’s choice of A-level subjects and whether these are appropriate in light of his/her GCSE performance
  • Evidence of good attitude and work ethic, indicating the potential to succeed at A-level

Each A-level has subject specific entrance requirements, which can be found in our Sixth Form Prospectus. The school reserves the right to decline entry to specific courses, however we will work with students and parents to explore alternative course choices that are in the student’s best interests.

How to apply

Prospective GSAL students and their parents are encouraged to contact the school to find out more about our sixth form. We offer a limited number of means-tested bursaries for students who are predicted excellent grades (typically 8/9s) and whose gross family income is less than £67k.

Applications should be made using our online application form and will incur a £75 application fee. If  you would like to be considered for a means-tested bursary, please indicate this on the application form.

For further enquiries please contact our admissions manager, Alice Atkinson on 0113 228 5121 or admissions@gsal.org.uk

“A number of our students join GSAL’s sixth form each year and they are made to feel very welcome. They relish the opportunities this move offers them and have all done extremely well.”
